Product Description
Hygromycin B is an antibiotic produced by S. hygroscopicus and is an aminoglycoside that kills bacteria, fungi, and higher eukaryotic cells by inhibition of their protein synthesis. It stabilizes the tRNA-ribosomal acceptor site which inhibits translation. It is also active against prokaryotic cells and is used in the lab for selection and maintenance of cells that contain the hygromycin resistance gene.
