Product Description
Sodium Alginate, or Alginic Acid Sodium Salt, is a natural amylose carbohydrate distilled from algae. It is used in biotechnology as an effective stabilizer and emulsifier. In the presence of Calcium ions, Sodium Alginate has been observed to form cross-linked gels for cell immobilization.
Plant tissue culture grade Sodium Alginate is recommended for use at less than 4% concentration in plant tissue culture media. It is a suitable substitute for agarose or gelatin in many microbiological applications. To reverse gelling, citrate may be used.
bioWORLD's line of Separopore agarose beads offers a number of affinity matrices for every application.
bioWORLD's products are supplied for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as a drug, agricultural or pesticidal product, food additive or as a household chemical.
