Product Description
Amoxicillin is a bactericidal penicillin active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms and is sensitive to ß-Lactamase. It is bactericidal against sensitive organisms during the stage of active multiplication. Amoxicillin exerts its mode of action by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis by acylating the enzyme transpeptidase, thus rendering it unable to cross-link muramic acid containing peptidoglycan strands. This inhibition of the biosynthesis of peptidoglycan, a substance necessary for cell wall strength and rigidity, results in a defective cell wall.
